I get very angry when movie villains fuck with New York.

It feels really personal when I see New York being blown up or shot at or torn apart in action movies, most recently Avengers and Batman. What does the world have against the best city there is? Sure, the stock exchange and millionaires and blah blah blah, but New York has never been that to most people who live there. It’s culture, it’s diversity, it’s beautiful parks and museums and delicious food and beautiful/weird people living their lives alongside each other and making their way, and, above all to me, a city worth fighting for.

So last night I saw The Dark Knight Rises and Bane said to him “So, you came back to die with your city?”

My answer would have been a whole-hearted “You’re goddamned right I did.”

Edit: I know it’s called Gotham, Danny, but come on. You see that skyline? NYC. shut up.
